Another money saving tip is to find someone either in your wedding party or in your family who has beautiful hand writing and is willing to address your envelops for you. Make sure you offer to give them a small gift or at least cook them a meal in exchange for the help. This will save you a couple hundred dollars.

Aruba Vacation

A and I just got back from our first ever trip to Aruba, we had a great time and wish we did not have to return to the cold and snow. I have a few pictures to share with you. We stayed at the Radisson Beach Resort, for 5 nights. A and I played golf, rode ATVs, enjoyed the beach and took a Catamaran snorkeling (really A was the only one who went snorkeling, I was just along for the boat ride, big fear of fish).

This pic was taken during a stop on an ATV tour that we took. We were on top of a giant rock.

Everyday we sat under these grass huts called Palapas.

Our room at the Radisson had a Caribbean/Asian/Relaxing design. We'll be redoing our master bedroom and were inspired by the laid back style of our hotel room.

The room had these amazing floor to ceiling Asian inspirated screens that opened up to a balcony. When closed they still let in light but, allowed for privacy.

All in all, it was a great trip and we can not wait till the next time that we can get back to Aruba.

When choosing a hair style for your wedding day you'll want to keep it as simple as possible. The simplier the hair style the less time it will take in the morning, it will cost you less and you will look more like yourself. For your bridesmaids hair, I would advise letting them do it the way that they are comfortable with. they will have more fun that way. (The one thing that you should coordinate is if your bridesmaids are going to wear anything in their hair it should be a color that you choose.)

I can't believe it has been an entire year since I started this blog and blogging in general. I thought it might be fun to re-post my very first post. I have learned so much since I posted this Your Perfect Wedding post, I cannot wait to see how much I will learn in the next year. Enjoy!

You can have a perfect wedding as long as you stay true to yourself and your fiance, you will have the perfect wedding for you.
After you have enjoyed a few days of being engaged you might feel like you want to start planning. The best thing you can do at this time is to dream up with you fiance what you envision this day being, not the budget, not the guest list, but what this day means to the two of you.
So grab a pen and paper and write down the following:

What time of year do the two of you love.
Is there a special place or kind of place that means something to the both of you.
Whats your favorite color ( this is more for the bride than the groom)
Do you have favorite foods.
Are there any special wedding traditions that mean something to either one of you.
What do you mean to each other.
Do you like to hang out with a few friends at a time or is your motto the more the merrier.
And last but not least what describes the perfect wedding to each of you.

Really discuss these items with your fiance, because this is what you’ll refer back to when making most of your future wedding decisions. This will also be a good time for you to get an idea of anything that your fiance feels is important and should be included in the wedding during your planning.
And of course have fun with this and never forget why you're getting married in the first place.
PS: Go through this excerise before you talk to your sets of parents it will give you a clear idea of what you what before other people start putting in their two cents.

I Miss You So Much, Jax

On Thursday morning my great dog Jax pass away suddenly from what we now believe may have been a brain tumor. He was only 6 years old and full of life. Aaron and I miss him so much it hurts, as do all the people who knew him well.

He loved playing catch me if you can, so agile that none of us people could catch him. He loved chasing squirrels along the fence in our back yard, even if he never catch them. He had a big bark but, would never hurt a fly. He was always the center of attention and always willing to break dance on the floor to entertain everyone. There are too many things that Jax loved about life and that we loved about him to list.

All I have to say is that we will always love him and miss him forever.

C is for Ceremony

There are thousands of places where you could get married and each place effects your budget differently.

A religious setting (Church, Temple, etc.) - These venues tend to be the least expensive, its usually a couple hundred dollars for the priest or rabbi and whatever you want to spend on flowers.

Outside (public space)- This is another relatively inexpensive venue although you do have to worry about the weather. In this scenario you still have to pay for the officiant, but you also have to add on the chair rental, the cost of renting or building an archway to stand under and any fee the city or town my have for you to use the space.

Outside (private space, backyard, etc.) - This venue is similar to the public space except you can minus the fee from the city or town. This can be a very inexpensive and personal way to have your ceremony.

At the Reception Site - If you are thinking about having your reception at a hotel, inn, country club or function site, you may want to look into having your ceremony at the same location. In this scenario you will not have to worry about renting chairs or an archway because these venues usually will have these items. You can save on transportation costs as well, since every thing will happen in the same location.

Public Building - If you have a historic building near where you live with a beautiful space that would fit all of your guests, consider this as an option as well. It will create a one of a kind experience for the two of you and give your guests a nice change of pace as well. Costs wise this is the same as the outside public space, and also you may need to take out short term insurance for the event for a couple hundred dollars depending on the historic value of the building, check with the town or city.

Precede the maid of honor down the aisle
Help the bride in and out of her dress

Save some money for your bridesmaids by finding the dresses you like online or give them a swatch of fabric that you love and have them find their own dress that best matches that fabric.

Announcing your engagement and/or wedding is an exciting task, maybe even more exciting for your sets of parents. Here is how to make this task as easy as possible.

The two of you pick out a picture that you love.
Give the picture to your parents
Let them run with this one.
Have them run the announcement in the local town/city paper in your home towns.
And run the announcement in the larger area paper.
Remember to grab a copy of the announcement for your scrapbook.

Show Us Your Life: Honeymoon

This post is Show Us Your Life: Honeymoon, check all the other people participating in this blog hop at Kelly's Korner.

The day after the wedding, we flew over to Europe for our 2 week honeymoon. Our first destination was Paris. We fell in love with all the site and sounds and can not wait till our next trip to the City of Lights, whenever that may be.

While we were in Paris we took two side trips one to Monet's Garden, as an artist this was an amazing place to visit.

The other side trip was to Versailles, the palace was interesting but I found the landscaping and fountains to be breath taking. We rented a golf cart that we could drive around the grounds, as well as renting a row boat that Aaron used to row us out to the middle of the man made lake.

After spending a week in Paris we flew to Venice for a few days, this is a great city to spend a few days in if you are in Italy or just passing through, there is nothing like it anywhere else in the world.

Our final stop on our honeymoon was Rome. This city was full of excitement and history, Rome is a place where the ancient coincides with modern.

I hope that someday I get to take a vacation like this one again.

Show Us Your Life: Wedding Reception

Our Wedding Reception was at the Kernwood Country Club in Salem, MA

Here is our yummy cake!

We had my 2 brothers and Aaron's brother who was also the best man make the toasts.

My father sang "The Way Your Look Tonight" during our first dance.

I danced with my father to Tim McGraw's "My Little Girl" with a dip at the end.

Aaron danced with his Mom to "I Hope You Dance".

Aaron is half Jewish so we had the traditional Hava Nagila.

We partied into the into the night!!

After the reception we continued the party at my parents house. Here is the groom's cake that my mom's friend made for us.

Tomorrow I'll be showing you our honeymoon.

This is her wedding cake topper, I was amazed at how intact it is after all these years.

This was with her wedding gown, a little piece of old style advertising. Unfortunately, her wedding dress was in pretty poor condition.

This is a picture of my aunt Louise on her wedding day in the same house that I got ready in only two years ago. This is in my parent's house (of course it was not their house back then, then it belonged to my great-grandpa) there have been many brides that have gotten ready in that house.
